Mary was the second child of George and Ann Andrews and was born at Falbrook via Singleton and one of eight children. Mary received very
little education and at a young age worked as a servant in the
Newcastle area and was later married at Gunnedah at the age of 21
years. She was known as a very hard worker especially on outdoor tasks
and was a very competent horsewoman. Upon the death of her husband
she carried on the farm herself for 13 years up to the time of her
death in 1926.Mary did marry a second time to William Duke Stevens,but
they separated after a short period,apparently because of his lack of they separated after a short period,apparently because of his lack of
interest in work on the property. Mary passed away at the age of 65
years and is buried in the Church of England Cemetery at Yetman NSW.
