William Andrews 1862-1928

William was born at Goorangoola, via Singleton, the second child and first son of George and Anne Andrews. He was raised in the Singleton district and at the age of 21 he married Margaret Marshall who was also a native of Singleton. At some early stage in their lives they moved to the Rothbury district where they raised a family of six, four sons and two daughters. Not much was known about William and his descendants up until 1993 when Roy Andrews and his son Leigh were driving through Branxton and visited the cemetery and found the grave of William and Margaret Andrews. A death certificate was obtained and one of the children of the marriage, Ethel Andrews', obituary was located in the Singleton Argus and from this obituary an address was found of a daughter, Mary Horner at Eastwood.Forty two years after the obituary notice had been reported in the Argus, Mary was still living at the same address and with the assistance of Mary and her family,a further 164 descendants were added to the Andrews family tree, including some who still live in the Branxton area.
