Ethel Smith,nee Andrews 1884-1951
| Ethel Andrews was born at Singleton in 1884. She was the eldest child of William and Margaret Andrews and spent her early life in that district. About the year 1920 she came to live at North Rothbury,her husband at that time being in the employ of the Rothbury Collier y Limited.She lived there for about 25 years. Following the death of her husband in 1945,she went to Greta to live. She passed away at Maitland hospital after an illness of some eight weeks and was buried at the Cof E cemetery at Branxton. Her eldest son, Private Henry Victor George Smith,paid the supreme sacrifice on the Borneo death march, while a member of the 2nd AIF. Ethel also had twelve grandchildren and the pallbearers at the funeral were S.Andrews, N.A.Andrews and O.A.Butler |
