Sarah was born at Cross Creek Singleton and received a limited
education and at the age of 22 years married John White at Maitland in
1890. They took up residence in Semphill Street,Maitland and Sarah
remained in the same house all her life. The house on the banks of the
Hunter River is still occupied by one of her grandchildren and two
other descendants live in the same street. Sarah’s family apparently
had little or no contact with her brothers and sisters. Sarah
was described as a loving and caring mother and grandmother who lived
for her family
