John Andrews 1870 - 1918
| John was born in the Hunter Valley and was educated to a limited degree before taking up bush and farm work in and around the Singleton District. It is believed he left the Hunter Valley in the early 1890’s and went to the north west of New South Wales where he met and married Harriett Stevens. He then worked as a bushman in the Gundy,Ashford and Warialda areas before shifting to Goondiwindi Queensland where he lived for two years prior to his death in 1918 at the age of 48 years. Tracing John proved to be a most elusive task but a breakthrough came when Roy Andrews made contact with Norman Sutton in Queensland, which, led to a John Andrews living at Ashford. This John Andrews was trying to make a connection with the Singleton Andrews. Some lengthy communications between Roy and John Andrews found the link between the families and a further 248 descendants were added to the family tree. |
