Charlotte Thomas,nee Shearer 1848-1936

Charlotte was the first child of thirteen born to Eliza and George. She was born at ‘Sydenham’ via Singleton and baptised at St Clements at Camberwell.She had the gift of caring and looking after people and whenever she was missing from her home she would be delivering a child for family or neighbours. In her later years she moved to Sydney with her husband and lived at Castle Hill for some time. When Ernest Elbourn was transferred by the Railways to Newcastle, Charlotte moved back to Newcastle as well. She finally moved back to Lakemba in Sydney where her sick husband died. Charlotte then moved in with Joyce Rooke's family and used to share her time with other members of her family.She died at Paddington and is buried at Rookwood
