Hello Roy,

Greetings from New Zealand. My name is Pam Jackson, and my maternal grandmother was an Andrews.

I have looked at your web site and checked the names presented, but can't see any of my particular family, who also came from Wiltshire. However, I wondered whether you might have gathered information on some "stray" Andrews when you were doing your research.

My gr. gr. grandfather was George Andrews and according to the 1851 census he was born at Stratford St. Anthony. On a modern ordnance map I can see Stratford Tony, which I am asuming is the same place with a modernised name, and that place is very close to Bishopstone where your family came from, so I am rather hoping there may be a connection.

George married Mary Ann Harwood. >From their marriage certificate I know George's father was called Samuel (a labourer) but I don't know his mother's name or any of his siblings. George and Mary Ann were living at Quidhampton in 1851, had four children at that time and emigrated to South Australia in 1854 and had several more children.

I will leave it at that for now, and look forward to hearing from you.

Kind regards,
Pam Jackson.

Hello Pam,
A long shot!
I have a Mary Ann Harwood B. 2/6/1832 D. 25/12/1898 married to John Adama B. 1829 D. 1905.
Mary Ann's father is I think william Harwood, B 1810-1812,M. 30/5/1853 D.8/10/1894 Busselton W.A.. His father was George Harwood. Is this your line? I'm stuck on George. Dianne

Hi Dianne,
My Mary Ann Harwood was bapt 1819 (Salisbury), marr George Andrews 1841, and they emigrated to South Australia.
Mary Ann's father was James, who died early. Neither has his baptism been found, so I have no parents or siblings for him.
I do have a lot of stray Harwood information from a researcher which I would be happy to discuss with you directly via normal email.

Hi Pam and Jill,
I know your postings are up to 8 years old, but I have only just discovered them. I am also related to George Andrews. He is my great-great-great grandfather. My great-great grandmother Caroline was 6 when they came out to South Australia. I also only know of George and Mary Ann's fathers Samuel and James but no more about them but would love to know more.
Regards,
Distant Cousin Dee, from Queensland Australia.
