I need help find information on the Dempsey family please. Catherine Dempsey m W B Mitchell 1871 W Maitland. Catherine's parents were Stephen and Maria nee Manser/Mawsfield variants married 1820s. They lived at Murray's Run. Has anyone done a list of who was there when? Any help greatly appreciated.

Allannah, my surname is Wolloghan, prounced most probably like yours. Did your family originate in Wicklow, Ireland?

Its an unusual name and would like to know more.
Thanks

Hi Julie,
A friend found this information for us re Wooloughan:
I have carried out indepth research on the origins of the Wooloughan (O' hUallacain in Irish) clan who were a branch of the powerful O'Kelly and O'Madden clans in East Galway,
where they were Kings of Silanchia, and area lying between Ballinasloe and Portumna. One of their strongholds, Cloghan Castle, is still inhabited near Banagher, Co Offaly on the
Shannon River. I brought John down to visit there last year and also another old ruined family manor at Cogran nearby.
This is a quick overview of a very proud ancient Celtic heritage of the O'hUallachain Clan which you can pass on.

Good to chat again

I have found that Stephen DEMPSEY died March 1851, buried RC Wollombi. An inquest was held. How do I access inquest records for this timeframe please? Are there any newspapers around for 1851 which may have covered this item of news?

Ooops!
Should be March 1852, sorry. I have looked up 'Maitland' newspaper - not mentioned.

I am looking for information about the following families from around Singleton in 1850s or thereabouts
Roeth - and every kind of variation of the name you can imagine, Reid, Rote, Reith etc etc. Also Charlotte Taylor who married George Reid (Roeth etc). But later on Susannah Reid (Roeth or whatever) about 1880s & 1890s, daughter of the above. I am sure she had my illegitimate grandmother to Robert Elias Obee Peisley, so any information about him would be most welcome.
Thanks
Jan
