Harrietta Mewett my gg grandmother b. 1861 Newcastle to William & Henrietta Mewett. Harrietta m. John J Buckley in 1878: daughter Annie May Buckley m. Alfred Denning: 2 daughters Florence May(grandmother) and Grace. Could this be your William Mewett?

Would you have come across a William Mewett who married Elizabeth Sarah Smith in 1928 in the N'Castle area...lived New Lambton 1930s ??

Yes I certainly do have two William Mewetts who were in the Newcastle, Wallsend area, one born 1900 and one in 1905, they were first cousins and one probably was the WM who married Elizabeth, my GGGrandmother Harriet had two brothers James and Charles William who both produced a William, I have a great deal of the family history since I posted my message in April, 2004 and would be happy to share it.

Many Mewetts in South Australia from Samuel and Martha arrived Adelaide from Sussex England aboard the Platina arriving Feb 9 1839.
