Looking for information on my grandfather, James Aloysuis Drake who was born in Cumberland, England, on May 28 1903. He came to Canada in the late 40's early 50's and worked as a miner.

Particularly interested in his history as he had olive skin, big dark eyes and a great outgoing personality. Are some Drakes celtic? Is there a meditteranean background? Always wondered about this part of my heritage -- can anyone help?

Hi there Anonymous and thanks for the message.
There is plenty of documentation on the Drake family worldwide on my Drake website at;

Best bet is to put your names into the search engine on the site at;

the other thing to do is join Barb Marshalls great Drake List. Instructions are at;

This is a discussion area for anyone who has an interest in the surname DRAKE
and it's many spelling variations. If you are interested in exchanging information on
your DRAKE ancestors or ask questions about them - this is the place for you.

This may help you in your quest,
