CLINTON - Martha Alice Drake, of Clinton died Sunday, May 29, 2005. She was born Dec. 18, 1915, in Clay County to John Walker and Eva Huffman Walker. Her husband, Ralph W. Drake, died earlier. She also was preceded in death by one grandson, Chad Drake.
Survivors include four sons, Ralph Lee Drake and his wife, Helga of Tacoma, Wash., Cecil Drake and friend, Shirley Bennett and Timothy Drake, all of Terre Haute and Henry Drake and friend, Donna of Nashville, Tenn.; two daughters, Sandra Areson of Clinton and Carolyn Wilson and her husband, Bill of West Terre Haute; 16 grandchildren, Bridgett Zawaiden, Ralph L. Drake Jr., Douglas Drake, Paula Beebe, Darci Clements, Henry Drake Jr., Ralph Drake, Cindy Johns, Charles Areson, Willie Lambert, Richard Baker, Mark Baker, Rhonda Jones, T.J. Drake and C.R. Drake; 36 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
She was a waitress until her retirement. She had been a faithful member of Higher Ground Center.
Services are 10 a.m. Wednesday in Higher Ground Church. Burial is in Walnut Grove Cemetery. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. today in Mattox-Wood Chapel in Terre Haute. If friends so desire, memorial contributions may be made to the Gideons; or, to Hospice of the Wabash Valley.
