I have a copy of the St. Matthews Lutheran Church 125th Anniversary church History.. it contains information (some family lore) from the establishment of the church by Mr. Johann T. Bauer (have seen spellings with in family/papers as Bauer/Baier/Beyer) in 1856.
Reportedly they came in 1845 "a little band of pilgrims left Bavaria to come to America, the land of promise, opportunity and freedom." I have a genealogy compiled in 1936 by Rev. Lorin L. Spenny, pastor at the chruch with informaiton furnished by Margaret Beyer Schmidt. I have it in word, and would be glad to send it to you... and some other information pulled from County History books about this line of Beyers. There is an annual Beyer reunion in June in Paducah Ky.
I have not gotten any farther back, and have not had an opportunity to go the reunion to inquire as to the length that others have reached back to since knowledge of the reunion was acquired, last year I was to go, but my father died, and this year, my husband has been serving overseas since his deployment, and we expect to remain on active duty and be moved out of the area by this years reunion.

Dear Mrs.Kolb,
I am doing Genealogy on the Kraper and Horntrop family. I am wondering if you have run across any information on them during your search. They were members of that church and my Great grandmother, Laura Kraper had her funeral services there. I am having difficulty finding out where she is buried. If you have any information on any Kraper or Horntrop family member could you please share it with me. I would really appreciate it. it may be a long shot but I have been searching for her for 3 years. I just want to find where she is buried so that I may visit her grave finally and if she doesn't have a head stone to give her a proper one. If you can help in anyway I appreciate it. I am sorry about your loss of your father and please tell your husband that many people appreciate what he is sacrificing for us. I will pray for him and you during this trying time. Thank you again and vote with your whole heart.
