It was Feb. 1, 1777, near Metuchen, NJ; 500 men of Stephens Brigade under General Scott attacked a party of 1000 foraging Brits under Gen. William Erskine. The British clubbed to death a wounded American, which action brought a harsh letter from General Adam Stephens, that letter being ignored by the British General. Reminds one of today, huh? Paul |
