Hello, Can you recommend a user-friendly, functional, reasonably-priced genealogy software program for beginner/intermediate use? I live in Queensland. Regards, Roger Morris. |

Hi there Roger and thanks for your message re software. I personally use the "Relatively Yours" program as it is an Australian program and uses more Australian type terms unlike the American programs. http://www.relativelyyours.com/ Family Tree Maker 11 is well known around the world but obviously uses USA terms etc, American programs emphasis a lot on things like "Military Records" etc http://familytreemaker.genealogy.com/?Welcome=1085799874 All programs are compatible so you can transfer data between one another, hope this helps, regards, Roy Andrews

Hi we've been using a family tree software package called expert personal roots on an old Windows 98 environment. We have been unable to load this program onto a Windows XP environment. IS there an upgrade (can't find any on the net) or what woudl be a suitable package? Your recommendation for "Relatively yours" looks attractive as long as we can import data from Gedcom files in old software Hope you can help Cheers Don Barber |

Hi Don, yes you can import Gedcom files from other programs into RY. I did a test some years back by importing files from a DOS version of RY into the new windows based RY |

Hi we've been using a family tree software package called expert personal roots on an old Windows 98 environment. We have purchased the new deluks version and the old date can not link to the deluxe one. The original 3.5 floopy disk 1 has a fault on it and can't be loaded, so we are stuck between both progams. can you please help as my mother is on my back to fix it for her. Hope you can help Cheers Mark |
