I have information (unsubstantiated) that my gr gr granfather married a Hannah Singleton. His name was Patrick Fredrick Campbell 1809 - 1854 and she died in 1853???. Their son was George Robert Campbell (my gr grandfather). Is there a connection to your family? Margaret Doughty (ne Campbell) |

Hi everyone. My GGG grandmother Elizabeth Thorley married James Brown 29/5/1850 in Singleton. Mary Griffiths was Elizabeth's mother and Philip Thorley was her father. Jonathon Griffiths was Mary's father (orphan on second fleet) and Eleanor MacDonald was her mother (first Irish convict ship) This search started off looking for my uncle Leslie Maxwell Brown, I havn't found him but am now hooked! Please anyone I would love to follow this further. I was doing this search initially for my 84 y/o mum who is still very interested. Live in NZ, family in Aust. My email is qmsc@wave.co.nz Thanks

Going by your email you live in NZ which makes it hard for research. The best thing to do is write to the Singleton Family History Society at Singleton. The society is manned by a collection of very keen volunteers and they have so many records there at the society room. They also do a $10 research of the records held at the society. Obviously there is so much info there on the Singleton family. The society rooms are absolutley full of records, papers, photographs etc of the history of the whole Singleton and district. If you like, I can do cdrom lookups for you at home. The address is: Singleton FHS P. 0.
