Hello,
I don't know if you can help me. I am looking for any information about a
Sister Josephine who was a nun in Singleton either towards the end of the
1800s or possibly up till the 1940s. I believe her name was Josephine
O'Connell. She was an or great-aunt of my mother's and I am trying to
locate any information about her that could lead to other family members.
Is there still a Convent in Singleton? and if so do you know if they would
still have their records from the end of the 1800s?
Any information or leads you could give me would be greatly appreciated.

Hi there Nadia and thanks for your message re Sister Josephine family.
I can't help you much at all with your quiry, but what I have done is added
your
quiry to the Singleton section of my Genealogy Discussion Forum at;
http://www.xroyvision.com.au/discus/
and hopefully you may get a response from somebody
else researching that same particular lineage,
the other thing to do is write to the Singleton Family History Society at
Singleton.
The society is manned by a collection of very keen volunteers and they have
so many records there at the society room. They also do a $10 research of
the
records held at the society.

I have a database of women who were nuns in australia......ed from an internet site some time back.
I checked O'Connell in Singleton but she was Sr Margaret....sorry.
Her Christian name wasn't Josephine either, sorry, but she was born in 1901...if that helps |
