I am trying to clarify some information on the Mercy Convent at Branxton for my website on Catholic Churches. There are two buildings across the road from the church both of which may have been convents at some time. The older, a white building has the word Mercy on the old gates but appears to have been used as a presbytery - while the newer larger building to the left of it is clearly a convent. I was wondering if anyone can tell me if the white building was ever used as a convent or any history regarding the convents at Branxton. |

Hi there David, thanks for posting your interest on the Discussion Forum, the other
thing to do is write to the Singleton Family History Society at
Singleton.
The society is manned by a collection of very keen volunteers and they have
so many records there at the society room. They also do a $10 research of the
records held at the society.

I have found information dated 23/3/1889 re a convent built by William Taylor and son who is one of my ancesters called our Lady of Lorurdes at Branxton I too am trying find more information |
