POSTED: Monday, 28 June 2004 12:31 AM Hallo Roy I have just found your website and the Levers you have listed. I am interested the Lever family as an offshoot to my Peters and Clarke families. Both Peters and Clarke families had one member each who married a Lever. They were: Mary Lever, b. 1863 in Sutton Mandeville, Wiltshire. Henry Lever, b. 1871, Sutton Mandeville, Wiltshire. Their father was James Lever, b. 1840, Agricultural Labourer. I dont know where he was born. Mary and her father eventually lived near Carisbrooke on the Isle of Wight. I noticed that some of your Levers were born at Bishopstone or Broadchalk which are close to Sutton Mandeville. Do any of my names mean anything to you? Regards Christine

Hi there Christine and thanks for the message. I can't help you at all with the Lever family - my Levers stayed in Wiltshire (as far as I know). One of my Andrews ancestors married into the Lever family and produced a large lineage. other options: Cyndis list at; http://www.cyndislist.com/ It is huge and is dedicated to EVERYTHING genealogy. The other thing to do is join the Lever mail List. Instructions are at; http://lists.rootsweb.com/index/surname/l/lever.html

Your answer to Christine caught my eye. I am working on my husband's Singleton line. I came across the name Lever. A Hannah Lever 1777-? married Noah Singleton 1752-1834. They had children by the names of Fasham 1780-1860,James 1782-?,Lucy 1785-? and Sarah 1789-1794. According to this information from Family Tree Maker these folks were born and died in Wiltshire, England. I need to know if this is correct and if any of the family came to Maryland. I feel the person who posted this info did not get all their facts correct so I was hoping you might have the correct information. At least I might learn the location my husband's family came from. Have a great day. Ginnie Singleton |
