Dear Roy,
I recently came across your website on the Drake family. Lots of good
info. I assume that you have looked at various allied lines and would
like to ask you about one of them.
William Westofer (1580-1615) married Elizabeth, daughter of John
Ellacott. The book Devonshire Pedigrees by John Tuckett has this line.
John Ellacott's father was Henry, who married Lucy Hawkins. Children
given for John Ellacott are Lucy, wife of George Hele; Henry, who married
Ann Pert; and __, wife of __ Westover of Yardbury.
I have obtained a copy of the will of John Ellacott, dated 10 Oct 1609
and probated in Jan 1609/10. In it, he lists his children as Henry, John,
Mary, Julian, and one previously provided for, Lucy, wife of George Hele.
I am trying to reconcile these two accounts with the Colyton parish
register that has Elizabeth Westofer, widow, marrying Lewis Heale, and
the similar information from your website by Earl Tourgee.
I would certainly appreciate your help in sorting this out.
