Hi,
Shane Ware from Newcastle. In mid 1980's we had a number of Roberts family re-unions in Singleton, including Hamilton family relatives. From this I was able to obtain folklore, which I will briefly touch on here, to see if any leads come up.
Fact: George Roberts Snr, tailor (b.1803 London) & his wife Elizabeth Holley moved to Glendon circa 1845.
Folkore 1: George berated his wife for not having a suit ready for Dr Glennie.
2. George went off to gold fields as a trooper & or involved in a posse chasing aborigines - never to be heard of again (nor his wife).
3. One of their sons, George Jnr (b.1844) was reared / stayed with a family of Mooney & worked in the carriering business thru Hunter Valley.
Newcastle Regional Library is providing some transparency into 1/ Dr Henry Glennie (1807-d.1880 Singleton)& also a Bernard Mooney (c.1797-d.1881 Singleton) a carrier. I'm broadening my research, as the original Roberts ancestors are a no show in NSW BDMS.
Any info especially Mooney & Dr Glennie would be greatly appreciated. For the record George Roberts Jnr d.1936, son was Hamilton d.1942, latter being my g.grandfather.

Hi I'm doing research into Hamilton Roberts who was the son of George and Eliza Roberts (nee Hamilton)Hamilton was born 21 Nov 1869. I believe Eliza is the daughter of Isaiah and Ann Hamilton. Any new information on George Snr and his wife Elizabeth Holley/Holly?? Kind regards Dianna |
