I have a DRAKE connection. Ann Drake was the second wife of my ancestor William CLARKE of Wisbech. They married in Wisbech in 1781. Ann, Elizabeth and Mary were the daughters of John Drake and the beneficiaries of his will. There is a lot of information about land that John owned in Walsoken, Norfolk (just outside of Wisbech, Cambs) on an LDS film #1702188 There are records of various manor courts in the area. It is very interesting but difficult and tedious to read. I have not yet found where John Drake came from or who his wife was. Do you have any information about this John Drake? I have had the Wisbech PR films but as I was not looking for any Drakes at the time did not notice any. I realised it was "my" William married to Ann Drake when I was looking through the Manor Court film. Sincerely Elizabeth Pugh Whitehorse, Yukon Canada |
