Dear Mr Andrews, I am currently doing some research on English diplomatic history in the 18th century and have, in the course of this, encountered a diplomat called Francis Drake Esq., of Yardbury and Wells in Somerset, England (1764-1821). He was English Minister at Genoa during the 1790ies and at Munich in Germany from 1800 to 1804. Unfortunately, noone seems to have bothered so far in historiography to find out more about him. I can't find any printed material on his family and his exta-diplomatic life at all. Do you know where I could get hold of some information (apart from archival material)? I would very much like to know about his family background, his youth, his financial backing, and so forth. Thank you dearly for your interest, hope to hear from you soon!
