My husband's maternal G'mother was a Drake from
Upottery / Hemyock and beyond her - Yarcombe.
Could go back to Francis D b.1783 and Eliz. b.1767. Now know she was Eliz. Willey and following Nellie Rich's list, assuming all corrct of course, can go back to 1580's !!
Family names connected - Lentell, Ayres,French, Warren,& Popham. All in & around Blackdown Hills. Great fun !
Bye the way we have Lydia D m. Thomas Rich not Charles ?

Hi there Marian and what a great surprise to contact somebody that
is tied into my ( and Nellie's Drakes). It is a small world, and there
much be thousands of descendents from those early Drakes. Nellie
and I have been in contact on and off over the past few years by snail mail.
Haven't heard from her for a while. I decided to get the Drake site online
so that I could publish what I have on the Drakes and at the same time
try and help others out and hopefully making contact along the way with my
Churchstanton Drakes. All the Drake lineage has been validated as far back
as Mark Drake ( d 1632). His father was John Drake but there must have been
thousands of John Drakes back then. Can't find anything on Mark Drake
either.
I think that Nellie gave me the info on Lydia marrying Charles Rich. If you
or your husband would like to send me anything on your Drakes it would be
most appreciated and only to go on the site if its OK with you.
