My Drakes are much earlier than samhain’s, but here goes nothing!
John Drake m. Ann Dadley. This couple was living in Manchester, Lancashire, England, around 1860. They had one known child, George Drake, b. 1860/1861 (probably summer 1861) in Manchester, Lancashire, England (date per George’s children’s birth certificates, birthplace per IGI batch #M007939).
George m. 7 Apr 1889 Adelaide Ann Klinkenspor in Manhattan, New York co., New York; Adelaide was born in England or Eire (Ireland) between 17 Sep 1869 and 27 Feb 1870 (probably in 1870) and was the daughter of Heinrich Klinkenspor and Selina King. Adelaide’s parents were married in Saint Mary Parish, Whitechapel, Middlesex, England, on 22 Aug 1869. Adelaide is listed on the 1880 New York Census as 9 years old, with a birth place of Ireland. (Her 2-year-old brother Edward’s birth place is listed as New York.) She was later widowed, and lived with her daughter Selina for a time. She (Adelaide) died 31 Mar 1951, in Brooklyn, Kings co., New York.
Based on some personal letters from Adelaide to their daughter Selina (currently in the possession of one of Selina’s descendants), it would seem that George died about 1916, and was probably still in New York City.
Children of George and Adelaide Drake:
1. Selina, b. 20 Jun 1890 at 177 E 82nd St, Brooklyn; married 9 Sep 1911 John J. Partridge; she died 20 Aug 1962 in Dallas, Dallas co., Texas.
2. Adelaide, b.27 Feb 1892 at 177 E 82nd St, Brooklyn; married a Degnan; died in New York City, New York co., NY 15 Sep 1973.
3. George Henry, b.16 Sep 1893 at 186 E 79th St, Brooklyn; first marriage to Florence Loretta Fanning; second marriage 15 Oct 1971 to Mary Lowe (née. Zeiser) in Ocean Grove, Ocean co., NJ; George died 29 Jul 1972 in Neptune, Ocean co., NJ.
4. Frank, supposedly b. Jun 1896. Name not found by NYC Municipal Archives.
