I am seeking information on my g-g-g-grandfather, Charles W. Drake. According to NJ census records, he was born about 1830 in New York. Living with or near him (by 1850-1860) were George W. Drake (b. abt. 1831) and his family, and John B. Drake and his family. They were all shoemakers, so I am assuming they were brothers. Also according to census information, John B. was born in NJ about 1836, so sometime between 1831 and 1836, the Drakes moved to NJ. Charles W. Drake married Electa Lyon (b. 1827 in NJ), in November 1849. Their first child, Charles, was born on 9/1/1850. They had several other children, one of which was my g-g-grandfather, Frank W. Drake, who was born on 7/16/1864. Does anyone have any information on these Drakes? |

I have some info on Drakes in NJ, related to my husband. Daniel S. Drake - son John H. Drake b. 1865 m. Ada J. Durling 1892, sons: George Wilbur, Henry Stanley, Elmer, J. Lester, Walter Willis, and daughters: Marion (died at birth 1912) and Anna Lulu (died at age 3 in 1903). Harlingen, NJ area to Montgomery Twp, NJ(Somerset Co.). There are many Drakes in NJ, however, and I'm having trouble finding the right line. Kris |
