Just a short note to let you know that we have compiled a new index (on CD-ROM) of assistance to family historians .... NSW Patriotic Fund Subscribers - Crimean War (1855). Over 30,000 subscribers and collectors names are listed and most entries state the place of collection, so if your ancestor was a subscriber this index may well assist in establishing where they were in 1855. Australia, eventually raised over £66,000 for the widows and orphans, and The Sydney Morning Herald and the Maitland Mercury published the details of contributors in New South Wales, in list form, stating the names of contributors, and with a few exceptions, the location of the district where collected is noted. Further details on this index is available on our web site <http://www3.ceinternet.com.au/~rgow> Hope the above is of some interest. Best wishes, Rod & Wendy Gow Visit our web site for list of Newspaper Indexes and books. http://www3.ceinternet.com.au/~rgow and while you are there check out the "Looking Back in Time - extracts from old newspapers (updated monthly). This is a compilaton of articles that we run across while indexing which are of interest to family historians.

I'm just starting a search in Australia. I was hoping to find census records for NSW and Richmond areas in 1890, 1880, 1870, marriage and birth records. Can you help? I appreciate ANY starting point. Thank you. |
