Haven't received any mail since 01/11/2004.

Message from Bill Oliver;
Osiyo Roy,

Not this time. It is the fault of Lists server #5, which carries our list mail, is down and we don't know when it will come up again. There has been no way to contact our members to tell them, except by personal email and there are just to many of you. Pass that word if you have the chance with any of our members.

Glad to know the server was down as no mail since the 4th. Began to wonder if everyone's finger was worn out from using the delete key and they couldn't type. So many e-mail in such a short time! But what fun!! Now to genealogy: Does anyone know all the names of the children of Benjamin F. Drake of Erie Co., PA and Erie Co., Ohio? Also was he from the MA Drake line?

Thank you Roy, I forwarded your message to those I did not see on your list my apologies for anyone i may have duplicated. There are a few other lists i have not recieved posts from either, so this does extend beyond the drake list i do believe.

Finally, we are connected again. Any Drakes here who are connected to William and Eunice Helme Drake?
I'm following my Dutch Drake's English background..which has a circuitious route. I'm finding they have roots that get to England from France and Denmark.
Or, do any of the English Drakes on this list descend from Rouse Helme?
I'm trying to find if the English Drakes on this list may have a common ground with my Dutch Drakes.

Glad that we are still in esistence.

Can you imagine the backlog of emails for the List??? Will we hit the magical number of
500 - maybe even 1000 ???

Guess I can wait for a few more days......

Nows a good time to go through all of the old stuff... and Roy's "Master" DRAKE site is a treasure trove.

Hey, Roy!

Maybe you could post where people can find the
MARCH 2004 ROLL CALL - so folks can use that for
a way to find some possible Drake connections --
plus it will get them interested in your site.

-- i did send out some mass emails for the roll call --- so I could send out another email broadcast directing them to the roll call page at your website.

See ya,

Hi All, I'm sure it must be more than just the Drake list, as I belong to several more and none of them are coming thru except my Doyle list and windows for dummies. Good time to play catch up.

I thought this was interesting. A connection to the Drakes from another of my long lost ancestors:

William BLOUNT (7 B. Mountjoy)

Born: 1561

Died: 1594

Notes: In 1592 the 7th Lord Mountjoy leased to Sir Francis Drake fishing rights on the Tavy between Lopwell and Denham Bridge for a minimal 2 shillings a year, and his younger brother, Charles, was a volunteer aboard Drake's REVENGE during the Armada campaign.

Father: James BLOUNT (6 B. Mountjoy)

Mother: Catherine LEIGH

Just saw a posting in the Drake area for a person (who doesn't know yet) -- that we
are related ... HA!!! tHANKS ROY!

Another Canadian Connection..those
Canadian Drake's sure get around! (Goes back
to New Jersey.)

No word yet on the possible New Hampshire &
New Jersey connection (that's Robert Drake being
the father of Capt. Francis Drake; Constance is
a descendant of Abraham Drake - Robert's son - who stayed in New Hampshire).

...Isn't amazing how the leads/info trickles in????

See ya -- thanks Roy for posting the roll call link.

I have a Mary Drake born Mansfield - Woodhouse, Nottingham, England in the early 1700's. Came to Mansfield - Woodhouse, New Jersey, probably with her parents.
She married there to Richard Bowlby in the mid 1700's. Their 13 children were all born there between 1750 - 1779.

As a Loyalist family they removed to Nova Scotia in 1783, after the Revolutionary War. Mary died in Bricton, Wilmot, Nova Scotia in 1784. Spouse Richard Bowlby d Nov 1818 near Lawrencetown, NS.

I was researching my Drake ancestors and came across this website. I do not see any recent posts and wondering if this site is still used. My great x4 grandmother was Mary Jane Drake Phillips, daughter of James Drake and Kesiah Champion Drake. I am really interested in any information on them or any other of my Drake relatives. Thank you!
