The Shelbyville News Tuesday February 21, 1950 ---------- ILLNESS FATAL TO W. E. DRAKE, 75 Lewis Creek Native Dies At Residence in Marion ------- Willis Emmert Drake, 75, Shelby county native and retired farmer well-known throughout the county, died Monday in Marion, Indiana. Ill for some time and seriously ill the past three months. Born June 21, 1874, Drake homestead, one mile northwest of Lewis Creek. S/o the late George W. and Louisa (Hawkins) Drake. On July 13, 1893, he was married to Lucressie Trailor, who passed away on March 1, 1912. Seven children born, six survive. Married Susie Billhiemer, who survives. 1929 Mr. Drake moved from Lewis Creek community to Marion. Surviving are sons Perry Drake, of Lewis Creek, Roy of Muncie, Marshall of Marion, Rev. Herbert Drake of Amboy, Indiana; daughters Mrs. Bertha Piersall of Indianapolis and Mrs. Effie Hughes of Galena, Ohio. Another son, Morris Drake, died several years ago. Also surviving: brother, A. C. Drake, and sister, Mrs. Herman Weinantz, both of Lewis Creek. Member of the Nelson Street Wesleyan Methodist Church at Marion, where services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday. Wesleyan Methodist Church of Lewis Creek, Rev. Carl Beaver of the Nelson Street Church of Marion, assisted by Rev. G.B. Clay of the Lewis Creek Church, will officiate. Burial will be in the Patterson cemetery. Friends may call at the home of the son, Perry Drake in Lewis Creek.
