They had children Benjamin b. abt. 1803 in KY and Elizabeth b. abt. 1805. Sallie Pickett appealed for divorce in SwitzerlanCounty court in 1816, declaring her husband, Heathcoate, left her unprovided for and was gone for two years and again left with all furniture and chattels. Divorce was granted in 1817. Sally got Elizabeth and $25 a year for three years. Heathcoate Pickett then married Mary Henry on 19 Jun 1820 in Switzerland County. Benjamin Pickett, the son, married Massy, daugter of David Lee, marriage record not found, possibly in Kentucky. In the 1860 census of Switzerland County, "Hethcoat", age 86, and Mary Pickett, age 60, are living in the household of Benjamin Pickett. 5. Jesse2 Drake (Drake1) He married Jane. Notes for Jesse Drake: "In the year 1798 there arrived from Lexington, Ky., Robert and Jesse Drake, with their families. They first settled on Grant's Creek, ..." History of Dearborn and Ohio Counties, Indiana. From Their First Settlement." written in 1885, F. E. Weakley & Co. Publishers, Chicago, IL: pg. 445 ibid p. 3 "Cass Township is south of Union, west of Randolph, north of Switzerland County, and east of Pike Township. . ." ibid pp. 585-586 Cass Township Pioneer Settlement, Incidents and Traditions "Previous to the admission of Indiana as a State, a number of families had settled within the present limits of the township, among whom can be recalled Jacob Myers, who resided in the southern part of the township, here the hamlet of Aberdeen has since been built. This was somewhat a central point on the road between Aurora and Vevay, and he early arranged his dwelling for one of entertainment and became the early landlord of that region of country. Along the eastern row of sections had settled the Scrantons, Drakes, and Lambkinses. From reference to the land sales treated of above, it will be seen that the first tract of land purchased in the township, was James Curry and Jesse Drake, in 1810. (This was the northeast quarter of Section 2.) Mr Drake moved upon this land in 1810, and was among the first settlers of southern Indiana, having emigrated from Lexington, Ky., in the year 1798, to Grant's Creek; from thence, in 1800, to a point on the Ohio River (Randolph Township, opposite Laughery Island. "Here he built a cabin, obtaining from the island boards enough to lay the floor and loft, which boards were remnants of a flat-boat, and were pieced by numerous bullet holes. It had his signature on it and Elizabeth's mark. ... In Decatur County, I copied deeds of Benjamin until Elizabeth was deceased. I was surprised to see that she was still alive until 1830. ..." [This fits with the 1830 census.] Drake, Benjamin and Elizabeth sold "... the south east quarter of section thirty six [36] in township four [4] in the ... on a Range west of meridian line ...... from the mouth of the Great miami River of the Canal district [?] ..." The rest is too difficult to read but Benjamin sold the land to Steven Hastings for $500. Robert Drake, surety, signed his mark; Benjamin Drake signed and Elizabeth Drake signed her mark. [This is the fist tangible connection between Robert and Benjamin.] I could not determine the number of acres involved.
