Some of the Madison County Ark. Drakes moved into Washington County Ark. Washington County is adjoining west of Madison County.
There as another line of Drakes in Washington Co. Ark. There are two or three Wesley Drakes in this line. I believe that Jacob Drake Jr. was responding to a letter written by one of these Wesley Drakes when he wrote the letter that I have. Perhaps this Wesley was inquiring if the Drake lines were related.

THE ADDRESS IS WESLEY, ARKANSAS
MADISON COUNTY

BUT THE COMMUNITY IS CALLED DRAKE CREEK, THERE IS A LITTLE CREEK WHICH WAS NAMED AFTER ANCESTOR, JACOB DRAKE, WHICH IS THE THIRD SON OF BENJAMIN DRAKE, THERE IS A DRAKE’S CREEK BAPTIST CHURCH RIGHT IN THIS LITTLE VILLAGE, AND THERE IS ALSO DRAKES CREEK CEMETERY.
IN THE EARLY 1900’s DRAKE TOWN WAS RE-LOCATED TWO MILES NORTH OF IT’S PRESENT LOCATION AND THE DRAKE HOTEL IS NOW A PRIVATE RESIDENCE.
DRAKE TOWN AT ONE TIME HAD, BESIDES THE HOTEL, A DOCTOR’S OFFICE, A POST OFFICE, A BANK, TWO GENERAL STORES, A SCHOOL AND A FLOWER MILL.
THIS AREA IS RICH IN DRAKE HISTORY, IT WOULD BE JUST GREAT IF ONE COULD GO BACK IN TIME FOR JUST A LITTLE WHILE AND SEE DRAKE’S TOWN AS IT WAS IN THOSE DAYS OF YOU’RE.

Sometime in October 1987 Sister Lillian and Husband Ward Calton, on their way to a Drake’s reunion in Ufala OK, decided to take a sojourn into Madison Co. AK and Drake’s Creek. They talked to one of the old timers that was related to the Drakes’, He gave them some information. There is still a Drake’s Store there, but in a different location than the origional one, the church is still next to Drake’s Cemetary along Drake’s Creek.
