Hello Drake Seekers, My Drakes I found in VA. In 1850 Census from a lead of the 1860 Il. census where my grgrgrandmother shows up at 15 yrs. Not parent in sight. What I have in 1850 is: George W. Drake 35 Yrs. stone cutter Born Ireland Elizabeth " Maiden name unknown " " James " 12 Born NY Samuel " 10 " " Jane " 8 Born PA Mary A. " 5 " PA Margaret " 5 Maggie, my line " PA Amelia " 3 " VA John " 1 " VA In 1860 George W. Drake has a different wife, some of the children are still there, but my Margaret, Jane, and James are in Il. Woodford county. Jane, I think is Eliza Jane married to John DeBolt, and Margaret married Thomas W. Holder. I have James Drakes C.W. papers and George W.Drake is in Il. trying to get James pension papers. James died in July 1863 at Vicksburg. George was a stone mason, but because of age couldn't work. Margaret died abt 1875 in Il. Can't find her place of burial or exact date of death. George lived in Marshall county, VA in 1850-60. Now W.VA. I think Samuel was in Moundsville and married in 1870 to a Ellen J. and children Charles 6yrs,William H. 3yrs,and Eliza Jane 5 mos.
Sorry to rattle on so. Any leads from any of you Drakes?
