|[DRAKE] Drake DNA Project Update|
Date: Tuesday, 12 November 2002 6:47 AM
It has now been 6 months since we started the Drake DNA Project. Below are some statistics of what we have found so far:
Number of participants: 24
Number of Drake lines represented: 14
Brick Walls beginning to crumble: 2 (at least!)
A relationship has been found between 2 Benjamin Drakes - 1) Benjamin b. 1729, d. 1827 Carter Co., TN, and 2) Benjamin b. 1730 of Davidson Co., TN. Another relationship has just been confirmed to both of the above, this time from Samuel Drake, b.1747 or 1754, d. 1826 Wayne TWP, Mifflin Co., PA. This means that all three of these men have a common ancestor. Now is a great time to begin sharing information between interested descendants in these lines. We continue to thank all of those who have shown interest, participated, or helped out in anyway so far with this DNA project. Your support is really appreciated. As you can see, new information can potentially direct your research in ways you never imagined possible. For all of those Drakes who have ever considered this project, now would be a great time to jump in!
You can view Jack Drake's webpage at: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~jdrake71053/DrakeDnaResults.html Or you can request to be added to our group project directly by the following link to Family Tree DNA:
Oh, one more thing - Roy Andrews has added a DNA information link to his website for all Drakes to see as well.
As always, if you have questions, please email me or Don Drake:
