RICHARD DRAKE of Southampton County, VA, was written 28 February 1759 and probated 13 September 1759. To his sons Francis Drake, Matthew Drake, Nathaniel Drake, Tristram Drake, William Drake, and Brittin Drake, he left one shilling sterling each. To his son Richard Drake, he left the home plantation and land where he lived. To his son Edmond Drake, he left enough to buy him a good tract of land. To his daughter Martha Williams, wife of Jacob Williams, he left one shilling. The rest of his estate was left to his wife Margaret with the reversion at her death to be divided equally among his four children Richard, Edmond, Elizabeth, and Margaret. His sons Matthew and Richard Drake were named executors, and witnesses were Thomas Gray, Benjamin Williams, and Mathew Williams. |
