William M. Dick 1900 - 1942

William was born in Scotland and came to Australia in 1924,because of his contact with Australian soldiers in the British Isles during World War 1. He came to the Singleton area where he worked as a bushman and a dairy farmer and became well liked in the district. He married Isabella Sutton of Glennies Creek on the 9th December 1926 and was involved in dairying until he joined the AIF from Singleton on the 13 June 1940. He joined the 2/13th Infantry Bn. 9th Division and sailed from Australia on the 26th June 1941.He was killed in action on the 25th October 1942 at El Alamein and is buried in the War Cemetery. There was one child of the marriage,Louisa Margaret who was 13 years old at the time of her father's death.
