I have an ancestor whose name was Bridget Galvin before she married Patrick Purcell. They lived at Scotts Creek near Murrurundi. Bridget came from County Clare in Ireland. I believe she had an Uncle, Joe Galvin who lived at Morpeth at one stage. Does anyone know of this Bridget Galvin? |

Sorry Gerard Bridget does not appear in my Galvin family.
Our original Galvin was Patrick & Mary. Patrick was from Offaly and came to Australia in the Army. He settled in Singleton area.

My great grandmother was Bridget Galvin who married Patrick Quinn at St John's Cathedral, West Maitland, NSW, Australia Maitland Reg. 2738/1869 They brought up their family at Owens Gap near Scone. Some family still live there.
Michael GALVIN was my great great grandfather who at 25 yrs of age married Margaret Ennis at Yass, NSW in 1843

Hi My grandfather was Daniel Galvin, son of Michael Galvin and Catherine Flanagan. Both Michael and Catherine were born in Clare Ireland. Michael was the son of James and Mary Galvin (Connors/O'Connor) who arrived on the Lloyds in 1850. Other family who arrived on the Lloyds included Patrick who married Honorah Considine and Mary who may have married Henry Pearce. James and Mary's children born in the Hunter included James, Daniel (died as an 11 year and I assume my grandfather was named after him),Bridget who married Patrick Quinn, James who married Susan Considine and Catherine who married a MacTaggart. My grandfather Daniel was miner, mine sinker and I believe a mine manager or a deputy. I'd be very interested in hearing from anybody with any interest in any of these families. Daniel Galvin married Catherine Bouffier, daughter of Martin Bouffier and Mary Agnes Smith. Follwoing her death Martin married Honorah McGrane daughter of Bernard McGrane. |
